You. Finasteride for treatment of androgenic alopecia is one of my favorite tools. I tend to use it for postmenopausal women in a 2.5 milligram dosage, and sometimes I go up to a five milligram dosage depending on tolerance and any potential side effects. I think it is likely an underused tool, but it's definitely something I have in my armor. Material. When people, when we work them up for other forms of hair loss and we really see that it's mostly androgenic, I feel comfortable using it and usually start at that 2.5 milligram dosage.
