In Episode 34 of Derms and Conditions, our host James Q. Del Rosso, DO sits down with Joslyn Sciacca Kirby, MD, MEd, MS, who is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Penn State Health. The two discuss Hidradenitis Suppurativa and the difficulty that they, along with many Dermatologists, face in treating it. They begin by pointing out all of the treatment modalities that have historically been used and how some are still effective, while others should be retired, especially when facing severe or refractory disease.

Dr. Kirby then shares some of her preferred topical and systemic therapies and how to select the right drug for the right patient. Finally, she relays that there is hope for the future in treating HS, as she personally participates in clinical trials for new monoclonal antibodies that have shown promising results.
