Vitiligo

The pathogenesis of vitiligo is very complex, but it boils down to three broad areas. Number one, we know that there's an immunologic basis for this disease where there is immunologic attack on the melanocyte. We know also that there's the effect of reactive oxid species and oxidative stress leading to destruction of the melanocytes. We also know that it's important in the management to stimulate regeneration of melanocytes. So our approach to managing vitiligo is really based on this pathogenesis. We want to control the abnormal immune system attack on the melanocyte, we want to reduce reactive oxidative species and oxidative us on the melanocyte, and we want to promote regeneration of melanocytes to get repigmentation and.
