You. Every practitioner learns the importance of setting expectations for clinical outcomes. Your acne is not going to get better in one week. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition for which there is no cure. Topical amiquamod will cause a lot of irritation. In addition to setting clinical expectation like those, I find it's important for patient compliance and outcomes to set expectations for access. What does that really come down to? I like to be able to quote a price to a patient. Employees will be no more than $20. Sernivo will be no more than $20. And this is regardless of your insurance status. If I send a generic to the local pharmacy, it's hard to predict the cost. So that's the access part. Tolerability and efficacy are obviously important to patients, but maybe not so obviously. They're largely related to vehicle, though clearly not as catchy as Dr. Kersick's. Vehicles matter. I like to say that access plus vehicle equals compliance.
