In clinical practice, atopic dermatitis is a clinical diagnosis, so we have to consider other possibilities. First of all, make sure you know the Hanifin Rajsha criteria so you can include other criteria beyond what we typically think of, like recurrent eczema and itching, and that will help you fine tune your diagnosis. Second, remember, there are certain in children like Wisconsin syndrome and Netherson syndrome, which can have examined dermatitis but have other problems that are important to identify that are significant. Keep those in the back of your mind. Third is considering the fact that allergic contact dermatitis can often be seen in patients with atopic dermatitis. And if we're utilizing targeted therapies like monoclonal antibodies, they may target the atopic dermatitis but not the pathways that are involved in the allergic contact dermatitis. So consider patch testing, and I refer you to an article by Owen in the American Journal of Contact of Clinical Dermatology, a great open reference that'll help you in that regard. And remember, adult patients, cutaneous t cell lymphoma can be a simulant, so skin biopsy may be something to consider. Thank.
