How common is atopic dermatitis compared to psoriasis?

You. So this is one of my favorite questions. Whenever I'm out talking to dermatologists and dermatology providers about atopic dermatitis and the new therapies that we have, they will say, man, these new therapies are great. I've only got a few moderate to severe atopic dermatitis patients, but it has really changed their lives. And my answer to them are even mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. Titus, you really changed their lives. And my answer to them is, you don't have that many patients with atopic dermatitis. Interesting, because the data is really clear that for every patient you have with psoriasis, you should have three patients with atopic dermatitis. And if that's not the case, if you don't have three atopic dermatitis patients for every psoriasis patient, you're blowing the diagnosis. You are 100%. No question. We know the prevalence of this. If you have fewer atopic dermatitis patients than you do psoriasis patients, that would be the equivalent of saying, yeah, I see squamous cell carcinoma in my practice all the time, but never see basal cell. We know for certain the epidemiology of these diseases, and we know that atopic derm in adults is three times as common as psoriasis. So you should have three times as many atopic derm patients. You should do psoriasis patients. If you don't, you are blowing the diagnosis. Most likely, you're calling these people dermatitis. Nos derm, unspecified eczema, contact dermatitis. You are incorrect. They should be called atopic dermatitis unless you have a confirmed other reason for their sponge derm.
