When is baricitinib recommended for atopic dermatitis?

You. So baracitinib is a Janus kinase inhibitor. It inhibits Janus kinase one and two primarily. The effect on one is known to be very relevant and significant, at least from the clinician standpoint and everything we understand. It actually was evaluated in both Alip picchariata and in separate studies for atopic dermatitis. Right. It did show good efficacy for atopic dermatitis, but it was not submitted for FDA approval, for approval in the United States. So, importantly, it is effective for atopic dermatitis, but it is not FDA approved for atopic dermatitis. That being said, as clinicians in practice, we may see some patients that have both. So if they have significant involvement with alopecia areata and are a candidate for oral baracitinib therapy, and they happen to have atopic dermatitis. To me, in my mind, it's a one stop shopping situation. When you're initiating clinical treatment, you treat for the alopecia areata, and as a bonus, you should expect to see improvement for the atopic dermatitis. And being clinicians, we're going to utilize adjunctive topical therapy, good skincare, all the things we know are involved with the optimal treatment of atopic dermatitis. But I think it's good to know that you can get that extra benefit, even though it's not FDA approved, because they're already using it for an FDA approved indication, which is the severe alopecia in an adult patient.
