Can the 40-GEP test be performed on superficial biopsies?

When we biopsy squamous cell carcinoma, it's important that we actually get a good biopsy. We don't think about this all the time like we do for melanoma, but one, if we want to be able to do testing like GEP, we need enough tissue to send out our pathologists also need to be able to see things like perineural invasion or extension down to fat that are going to be important prognostic factors. So it's important in general to make sure we get a good biopsy, not just a very superficial shave.
