How does treating atopic dermatitis in elderly patients differ from younger patient populations?

You. Treating etobic dermatitis in elderly is different than treating etobic dermatitis in younger patients because elderly patients tend to have drier skin. So we have to emphasize more about using moisturizers, especially recommending that they use moisturizer that lasts as long as possible, which are, in my experience, generally ointments instead of something like lotion. But the other thing that is different is among elderly patients, they tend to have more generalized itching, as opposed to younger patients who may be more localized. So there is a whole group of elderly patients with eczema, toy rash, with generalized itching that we have many, many names in terms of how we call them. The one that I generally use is eczema and paritis of the elderly. But there are many other names, such as adult onset atopic dermatitis or itchy red bump disease of the elderly. I can name at least five other ones. They do tend to have more generalized itching. So in addition to topical medication, oral medication, and also phototherapy, especially ubb phototherapy, I find that very helpful for elderly when they have more generalized itching in with their atrobic dermatitis.
